Q: What makes of vehicles do you work on?
A: We specialize in repairing Domestic and Asian Imports.
Q: My car is making a noise, has no power, is jerking, not idling, etc., what do you think it is?
A: It could be a million different things from a $2 fuse to a $400 timing solenoid. The most economical approach is to bring it in for a diagnostic check. At Hoover Automotive, we will perform thorough diagnostics with approved repairs, and give you an estimate. We don’t want to guess at the problem and quote you something that it’s not.
Q: Do you work on brakes and tires?
A: Yes, in fact, we can provide any service your vehicle needs, from diagnosis and repair, tune-ups for better gas mileage and performance, tires, brakes, transmission repair, and even an engine swap if your engine is more expensive to repair than to replace.
Q: How much do you charge for brakes?
A: It depends on whether you just need pads or if the need rotors or calipers. If your rotors are warped, we can check the thickness of your rotors to determine whether they can be resurfaced instead of replaced. This determination is made based on the manufacturer’s minimum thickness specs. We’ll put your vehicle on a lift and look at your car’s braking system to determine what you need, and we’ll call you with our recommendation and a quote.
Q: Do you perform other services in addition to mechanical repair?
A: We’re glad you asked. We can also provide performance upgrades including cold air intakes, exhaust, performance chips, lift kits, leveling, engine replacement to a larger horsepower and higher performance, and many more.
Q: Who is Hoover Automotive and how long have you been working on vehicles?
A: Hoover Automotive is owned by Josh Howell. He had a love for cars from a young age. As a teenager, Josh built his cars and took them to the drag strip! He graduated from Hoover High School and went to automotive school at Lawson State. Josh works on all brands and was previously employed at Royal Saturn, Royal Volkswagen, Superior Automotive, John’s Auto, and Christian Brothers.

Irene T.At last, an honest repair shop… I recently took my car to their shop on a friend’s recommendation after I swiped a curb with my tire and took a chunk out of it. I went in with the full expectation of getting a new set of tires. After showing the damage to them, they stated that I didn’t need new tires yet and that I should just monitor it in case it gets worse.
